Rice noodles form the basis of many Asian dishes. They are used to make the tastiest Pad Thai and other stir-fry dishes but are also added to soups, such as Vietnamese Pho. And you know, a good basis is key! That’s why we share our tips for the tastiest rice noodles.
This is how you make the tastiest noodles.
Step 1
Place the noodles in a large bowl so they have plenty of space.
Step 2
Boil enough water to fully submerge the noodles.
Step 3
Pour the water over the noodles. Stir briefly (about 30 seconds) so that the noodles don’t stick.
Step 4
Wait – the noodles are now soaking. Read carefully on the packaging how long this should take: the thicker the noodles the longer they need to soak. The composition of the noodles (ratio of rice flour/water) is also important.
Step 5
Drain the noodles after the indicated time (for the So Thai Rice Noodles this is 30 minutes). If the rest of your dish isn’t ready yet, sprinkle the noodles with a little (sesame or rice) oil to prevent them from sticking together.
Step 6
Heat the noodles briefly with your dish (in the wok or pan).
Make sure not to do the following:
- Do not boil the noodles. Boiling makes their texture too soft.
- Do not let the noodles soak too long (no longer than 30 minutes). This makes them soft and mushy.
- Do not soak the noodles in cold water. It takes too long for the noodles to absorb the water.
